Favorite store – Agnès B.

I am totally obsessed with Agnès B., most comfortable, stylish and well-made clothes on the market right now. These pants are my absolute favorite

Green Ketty pants

wish they came in more colors. I’d love these in black or charcoal grey.

Right now I am on a lookout for a pair of black jeans and I think I found just a pair – straight leg (so hard to find!), just the right amount of stretch, impecable stitching, very flattering

The big issue here is sizing. Normally I wear 36 but Agnès runs low, so I usually get 38. Well, originally I purchased these jeans in 38 and they were way too small, I was unable to even zip them up and the leg was so tight I was not able pull them all the way up. So I figured I might need to go as far as 2 sizes up, as I did not want them to be tight. To be on the safe side I ordered them in 40 and 42. 42 was baggy, 40 is a better fot although still a bit loose in the waist. I really do not know whether to keep them and wear with a belt or return altogether. I really want to keep them though…

Another great find is this beret:

And a high neck Loulou Picasso graphic t-shirt

I normally prefer lower neckline but I really loved this tee. It would look great with black jeans and merlot-colored purse.

Most versatile purse color

I was looking to buy a new purse and my number one choice was a black Agnès B. black Boston bag. The only issue was the color – I was not sure whether I wanted to buy a black bag – as much as I love black when it comes to clothing, I am not the number one fan when it comes to accessories, as they do not work more times then they do work.

For instance with navy or the blues. Or with bright spring color like orange or lime green. So I had to come up with something else.

After much hesitation I picked the perfect color – black cherry (or deep burgundy). It goes well with navy, khaki, tan, gray. Absolutely fabulous with black, and a beautifully contrasting when put together with orange and lime green.

The only color I do not like pairing black cherry with is red, but only when it comes to tops or dresses. Luckily I currently do not own a single red top or dress. I only have a pair of red capris but I can see myself wearing them with white shirt and black cherry bag just fine. WSo now I am on a lookout for the perfect black cherry purse. One in particular is mini Pashli by 3.1 Phillip Lim. Too bad I already have it in tan.

Today my purchases from J Crew arrived.

Diamond jacquard piqué dress. Very classic, perfect for work. Size 4 fit me perfectly without being too tight

After reading the reviews I have decided on ordering tall – this way it would hit right mid-knee – my preferred length.

Basketweave shorts in navy

I wanted those in size 4 or even 2 but the only one left was 6.

And the striped knit top in aqua

The Rayner chino shorts I decided against because I did not like the snug fit. They looked great online but in reality the leg is a bit too tight for my taste.

Getting ready for the beach I found a gingham boy shirt from J. Crew and a drop waist beach dress

The shirt is offered in two colors, blue and burnt orange and I got both. I loved the boyish look, beautiful colors, and light, perfect for the hot weather, material. Because the material was do light, I was worried it might be too see through, so I did a “black bra test” and blue shirt passed with flying colors, but the burnet orange clearly shown the black bra under it. So I ended up returning it, while the blue should be getting a lot of wear this season.

At first I felt the dress did not cover up enough, even though the material was solid and color – beautiful, I wanted to return it, but then I thought it would be perfect for the beach. If I really think about it, I do not have any dress that is specifically for the beach trips. Can’t wait to wear it soon!

Unfortunatelly this lovely skirt has to go back:

I loved everything about the skirt: the color, the print, the style, the pockets, the perfect length, the fact that, unlike many skirts of this style, it did not make my bottom appear flat. It was perfect until I attempted to walk in it – it was folding in a very unflattering manner:

Sadly I had to return it.

Here are my Friday gamine picks:

The niege, marine, and tulip striped top from J. Crew factory.

Striped hat to match from Kohl’s:

And polka dot bow top also from Kohl’s ELLE collection.

And last but not least, a gorgeous denim boat skirt from A.P.C

Another piece I got was Donna top also from A.P.C but I am not sure it will be a good fit as I was only able to get it in size medium. Either way it was such a perfect gamine staple – just the right boxy look, that I was simply unable to resist. Especially with all Memorial Day sales going on.

Getting ready for summer outside I have gotten a couple of gamine staples: a pair of wedge espadrilles and chunky heel sandals.

The sandals were actually a Mother’s Day gift from my husband. The espadrilles I got from Neiman Marcus Last Call. I actually had my eye on two pairs, flats and wedges. I ended up getting cognac flats for my mom, who, by the way, loved it. And she is quite difficult to please.

Here the lovely Sabrina espadrilles in cognac color. I loved two things about them – the softness and incredible comfort and the fact that they are made in Spain, not China for a change.

Here they are in black:

In addition to two pairs of shoes for myself I also found a beautiful open-collar necklace. Here are my purchases:

Both pairs of espadrilles are heavenly – incredibly comfortable and flattering. And the chunky heels are very chic and versatile. I am looking forward to wearing them all summer long.

The last of Lemaire x Uniqlo

Decisions, decisions

Just got my last Lemaire x Uniqlo order in and I swear I am done and there will be no more. Now I have to decide on what I am keeping and what goes back

The truth is all pieces are beautiful and I do want to keep them all but my rule is no more than 2 pieces from each collaboration (Ines de la Fressange, Carine Roitfeld, Lemaire). This year I only got one piece from IDLF – an olive tank, then 3 pieces from CR – ruffle skirt in black and silk tank, and later added a ruffle skirt in camouflage (it went on sale and I could not resist), and so far, no matter how hard I tried, I am only down to 5 pieces from Lemaire – the beautiful olive long sleeve dress, deep V sweater in mustard yellow, navy square sweater from last collection (surprisingly soft and versatile), and 2 flared skirts, one in teal and another in black. I had trouble choosing between the two so I kept them both.
With a heavy heart I am taking back white mesh sweater with black trim (so chic!) but I won’t make much use of it plus it can snag easily, and red flared skirt (it is not as elegant as its black and teal counterparts. It is a little sporty so could look good with some white sneakers but I do not own any:)).
